Welcome to the first webcast of Investars Invitational. For those of you who don't know Investars, we analyze analysts and research providers. Our sophisticated web-based systems help our clients to assess the performance of their internal analysts, or of external third-party providers who provide them with research.
We have been a catalyst for many of the changes and innovations in the research space and frequently break with conventional wisdom to address the many issues in our space through creative products.
In coming blogs we, along with our friends who represent a massive but virtually untapped brain trust in the global markets, will attempt to educate investors on research related issues and get their input.
Here and now though, as Investars reaches a milestone, we would like to acknowledge the many very bright (and patient) finance professionals, regulators, consumer advocates, research directors, independent research providers, the many individual investors and finally not the many incisive journalists without whom we would all still live in the stone age of research. We hope to be able to explore the role and contribution of each individual to the space separately in the upcoming Investars blogs.
For now we would like to thank Steve Biggar the Director of Research at S&P whose support for transparency and performance in research have made these webcasts possible and Pat Bishow and his team at S&P who put the webcast together.
We also would like to thank Tom Conigliaro of Goldman Sachs whose dedication of time and resources have provided our viewers with one of the best moderators we could hope for. Last but not least we would like to thank Scott Kessler of S&P and Ronnie Moas of Standpoint Research for their time investment in this project and for agreeing to share some of their best insights with our audience.
We are adding a mechanism to allow you to request stocks, sectors and analysts for future webcasts. Until then please use the "Comments" board. We look forward to hearing your insights. Enjoy!
